Abstract
The article analyzes the opposition between the sacred and the profane in Behemoth’s lyrics, using the semiotic square model developed by Algirdas Julien Greimas. The study examines the song lyrics, revealing the transgression of traditional religious categories in favor of a “new sacrality” and a state “beyond division.” The semiotic-cultural analysis demonstrates that transgression in blackened death metal is a complex process of negotiating meanings, where negation becomes a tool for critiquing symbolic power.
