Abstract

The musical culture of Generation Z, particularly its relationship with technologies such as streaming and virtual “live” concerts, represents a subject of debate in the context of traditional music reception and creation. Thanks to digital innovations such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), the way music is consumed has undergone a metamorphosis, offering audiences not only access, but also interactivity and personalization of the artistic experience. Streaming has become the cornerstone of this change, giving users unlimited access to music “on demand.” Virtual concerts, enhanced with VR elements, are creating a new musical experience, allowing interaction with artists and other attendees in real time. The article explores how these cutting-edge technologies are redefining communication strategies in music, especially in music education, through tools such as the AR Pianist app. The article also addresses the changing nature of music reception in the age of technology, with an emphasis on phenomena such as streaming, virtual concerts and virtual piano performances. The article examines the challenges and controversies of passive music listening versus active music making, highlighting how new technologies are changing the quality of interaction with music, offering deeper and more engaging artistic experiences.
